Palm Beach Trucking, LLC
(aka Merchant Transport)

The ownership team comprised of Steven Retterath, Jason Retterath and James Robertson established Palm Beach Trucking, LLC to purchase a crane and hauling company called Merchant Transport, Inc. in June 2002. An October 2008 deposition from James Robertson indicates that Robertson shares ownership interest in the company with Jason and Steven Retterath. The company operates out of its headquarters address in West Palm Beach, FL.

Prior to the sale, Merle W. Merchant had owned and operated Merchant Transport since 1960. Similar to its affiliated companies Gulfstream Crane and Royal Crane, Palm Beach Trucking continues to use the name of its predecessor, operating under the fictitious name “Merchant Transport.” The company’s general manager, in charge of its day-to-day operations, is John Dewhurst, a hold-over from the previous company and served there in the same capacity. To learn more about John Dewhurst, see the following depositions: July 28, 2008 / October 13, 2008

In Robertson’s deposition he outlined his involvement in Merchant Transport:

“My responsibilities are strictly ownership responsibilities, ultimately some banking. I'll make sure that the debt service is rendered, payroll is transferred, and that's pretty much the extent, and insurance is properly procured. That’s the extent. Day-to-day operations I am not involved in.”

The company’s fleet consists of hydraulic truck cranes and crawler cranes, as well as heavy hauling vehicles. In addition to crane and rigging work, Merchant Transport also provides trucking and specialized hauling services.
